Revitalash launched in 2006 and in 2010, the new formula came out. I been using the new formula of the Revitalash, since the old one isn’t available any more. The new formula doesn’t contain bimatoprost, also known as lumigan. This active ingredient is known to be used in eye drops that treat glaucoma patients. I think at the moment, Latisse is the only eyelash enhancer product that still uses bimatorost, but it has been labeled as a prescription drug.

Personally, I’m glad that Revitalash have reformulated their product. I don’t know why they’ve decided to change the formula. My guess is because of the serious side effects that people have gotten, might have something to do with the decision.

I’ve been using Revitalash for 6 months now. The first couple weeks were pretty awful for me. I suffer from dry eyes syndrome. What it means, is my eyes are more sensitive and dryer compared to others. My eyes are red and dry for most of the time, doesn’t matter what I do to them. Working full-time in front of a monitor isn’t the best for my eyes either, it actually just makes them worst. My eyes got really red after a few days of use, but they didn’t hurt. Took me a while to connect the redness was caused by Revitalash. I immediately stop using it and my eyes got better the next day. But the full “recovery” took another two days for me.

A week later, I started to use it again but this time more cautious than before. I took the time when apply the serum on the roots of my lashes, making sure that nothing go into my eyes. From then, my eyes didn’t turn red any more. But then I developed another problem with the serum.

After using Revitalash for longer period, the skin under my eyes got noticeably redder and once again, took me a while to connect this to the Revitalash. That’s because the skin wasn’t get red every day. Some days the redness was really obvious and some days it wasn’t that bad. And the whole time, I just kept blaming on my dark circles getting worse lol.

I finally discovered, when I applied Revitalash on my lower lashes the night before, the next day the skin under my eyes got red. For longer use, the skin around the eyes (lower and upper lids) got more sensitive to the serum and appeared really red. And that’s not even the worst!! I noticed a lot of fine hair was growing under my eye areas, above my cheekbones! Apparently, this stuff could make you grow hair any place on the face, not just on the lash lines.

I know you all are want to ask me with burning question; Why the heck I kept using it, if it caused me so much trouble? Simply, it works. Not fast enough though and the results weren’t long lasting, hence why I had to use it for several months. But when they grew, the results were really dramatic.

Another bad thing to add to the naughty list, Revitalash could only makes the existing lashes grew longer, but it failed on growing new lashes on the lash lines. It did an awesome job of adding length, but not volume. Some days my lashes grew so long, they seriously looked like spider’s feet.
