Review and Swatches: Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids lipsticks in Shocking Coral and Hot Plum -
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids lipsticks must be the next big thing for the summer. They are rich in pigment, vividly bright colors and they are drugstore affordable. I only got two colors for appetizers and they make me hungry for more!
What I like about the product?
I think the consistency of this is beautiful. Color Sensational Vivids is creamy, it also has honey nectar for nourishing the lips. This lipstick delivers a rich color with a shine finish. By the name itself, the colors aren’t meant for everyone. But they’re great alternatives whenever you want to spice up your makeup look with one quick way. It doesn’t take much effort to build up the opaque color on the lips and best yet, they’re long-lasting too.
My experience with the gorgeous Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivids lippies, were nothing but positive. No, they really are great. I know to some, this means a lot. The honey nectar part for me, well.. The lipstick does provide some moisture or more like, it doesn’t dry out your lips even when you wear it for hours, but I don’t think it does anything more than that.
The consistency of the product isn’t too creamy to the point that it could smudge or bleed outside the lip line. So no fear for that! The packaging is eye-catching and tells you a lot about what to expect from the product. The wear time is usually 4-6 hours. Pretty darn FAB!
Shocking Coral is very bright coral color that has more a yellow undertone. From the first look, I kind of expected it to be more neon based on how it looks on the bullet. But Shocking Coral isn’t really neon which might be a bummer for some – for me it’s a big relieve lol. I’m not the type to wear neon lip color anyway, unless it’s fun-fun day for me.
Hot Plum is a mix of purple and fuchsia. The color leans more toward pink in my opinion. In the tube, Hot Plum also looks a bit more intense, but on lips, the color is still deeper compared to Shocking Coral. I wish that the color could be more plumy than pink. But maybe for this reason, Hot Plum can work universally.
What I wish to improve?
The lipstick that is this rich in pigment, also stained my lips after it worn off. Sometimes it bothers me, sometimes it doesn’t. But I rather that it doesn’t do that.
Would I repurchase this product?
For sure! I don’t think we have all the shades from the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids line, but I’m planning to get more.
