Review And Swatches: Maybelline SuperStay 24H Waterproof Powder in Nude -

What I like about the product?
Something that is worth mentioning is the packaging, it’s super slim. I think that this makes it stand out from the rest of the bulky powder compacts. It’s great for travelling and to take along with you during the day. The formula of the powder is soft, blend out easily on the skin. The SuperStay 24H Waterproof powder gives a seamless, almost satin finish to the face. For some reason the texture of this powder reminds me of high-end products, it’s really feel smooth to the touch.
SuperStay 24h Waterproof powder is pretty much odorless, I know to some people it means a lot. Now, I have to say I doubt that it will really last up to 24hours. BUT I haven’t (of course), tested it out for that long either. It did last over 10hours on the skin, it just didn’t look as nice when I first put it on though. There were some oil and shine peeking through the t-zone after 3-4 hours of wear time, but not too bad looking. The rest of the face still maintain matte-ish at the end of a day. The powder holds up makeup pretty well in my opinion. It truly has a medium coverage and is pigmented enough to show on the skin.
What I wish to improve?
The Maybelline SuperStay 24H Waterproof powder supposed to be waterproof “resist shine, oil, sweat, heat and humidity”. Well, to be fair – the weather here is still cold, so I don’t know is it able to resist heat, sweat and humidity. But I know for sure that the oil control isn’t much to brag about like I mentioned above. AND I also know, it isn’t really waterproof because I swatched the powder on my hand, splashed water on it.. and it was GONE! There goes the waterproof claim. I think maybe with different technics, you can improve the powder longevity and coverage. Like using a buffing or a stippling brush, apply the powder by really push this product into the skin and maybe this way, it could work better. I only applied the powder by going over my face a couple times quickly with a regular powder brush.
I picked the shade Nude, same as the foundation that I bought before. The SuperStay 24H Makeup foundation was a bit dark for me, not as dark as the powder. I think the powder is much darker. When I applied this on my face, there were a noticeable color difference between my face and neck. The shade Nude has more a pink tone and mine leans more towards yellow.
Would I repurchase this product?
I’m not sure. I like the powder, but I wished that it would of have been like in its word “waterproof”. I’m looking for strong staying power makeup to take along with me on my holiday next month. I’m travelling back to Vietnam, so I’m definitely in need for sweat and humidity resistant makeup!
