New Hair Habits and Hair Care Routine -

New Hair Habits and Hair Care Routine
Helen Nguyen

A few weeks ago I shared with you the first chapter of my Hair Diary. Today’s post is the follow up chapter. I will share with you my hair care routine and some new hair habits that I will incorporate with my daily routine.

Kerastase Resistance Bain De Force Shampoo, Vichy Dercos Nutri-Repair Cream Shampoo, Alpecin Caffeine C1 Shampoo, Schwarzkopf Bonacure Deep Cleansing Shampoo and Avalon Organics Biotin B-complex Therapy Thickening Shampoo

Lets start with shampooing the hair. This is the thing that I’m trying to do less now. These last few weeks I only washed my hair twice a week. Not so easy at first, but it’s getting easier week by week. I know to many people holding out the hair washing seems not only gross but you can’t pass a couple days without getting greasy hair. My problem is the opposite, my scalp doesn’t produce much oil. It used to get very oily before, when I was washing my hair every day. But since jumping off from that routine, my scalp’s oil production decreased. It just looked dirty and got really tangled. By not washing my hair often, I hope I can maintain my dry locks in better condition for longer period.

The shampoos that I’m using right now are Kerastase Resistance Bain De Force Shampoo, Vichy Dercos Nutri-Repair Cream Shampoo, Alpecin Caffeine C1 Shampoo, Schwarzkopf Bonacure Deep Cleansing Shampoo and Avalon Organics Biotin B-complex Therapy Thickening Shampoo. So yes, a lot of products to alternative from time to time. I wash my hair twice a week but only shampoo it once a week and every other week, I’ll use the deep cleansing shampoo from Bonacure. I will be reviewing it soon.

My hair conditioners includes Redken Extreme Cat Protein Reconstructing Treament, Redken Extreme Conditioner, Avalon Organics Biotin B-complex Therapy Hair Thickening Conditioner and Kerastase Resistance Bain De Force Conditioner. I usually like to pair conditioners with each other, or with hair masks and leave it on my hair for as long as possible. This way my hair will get the maximum benefits  of these conditioners.

Hair masks are usually my favorites when it comes to hair care. The hair masks that I’m using now are TREsemme Hair Mask for extra dry brittle hair, amika: Nourishing Hair Mask, Nioxin Intensive Therapy Deep Repair Hair Masque, Kerastase Masque Nutri-Thermique, L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise EverSleek Absolute Smooth Intense Mask, L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise EverStrong Nourishing Intense Mask and Avlon KeraCare Intensive Restorative Masque. I go through hair masks quickly since they can penetrate into the hair better than regular conditioners.

I tried to do hot or regular oil treatments to my hair every now and then. I don’t really like doing them since they’re more time consuming, messy and I noticed every time I rub my scalp, lots of hair starts to fall off which kind of freaks me out a bit. But when I massage my head dry, there isn’t much hair falling off.

I use all kind of natural oils and mixing them together. The ones I’m using right now are extra virgin olive oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, vitamin e oil, KeraCare Essential Oils for Hair and castor oil. Sometimes after putting on the oils, I will put on the Avlon KeraCare Overnight Moisturizing Treatment or any hair mask on top for extra conditioning.

Most of my leave-in conditioners are hair oils. The collection includes MoroccanOil, amika: Oil Treatment, Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment, amika: Leave In Cream, Redken Extreme Anti-Snap and milk_shake Glistening Argan Oil. I’m totally a hair oil junkie, but now that I don’t wash my hair that often, I have to cut back on these too. Well, at least I’ll be saving some money.

Scalp treatments are something that I found effective and a must-do, when trying to speed up the hair growth. I just bought the Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hair Growth Fortifying Tonic to try along with Alpecin Liquid, WiseWays Herbals Goldilocks Hair Oil and NuHair Extra Strength Thinning Hair Serum.

Other products that I will start using for this summer are UV protections for my hair. Right now I’m using the L’Oreal EverPure Colour Care Protective Mist UV Filter and Kerastase Soleil Huile Celeste.

If I’m going to use heat on my hair (most likely not) the heat protections I’m going to use are the L’Anza Healing Colorcare Trauma Treatment, TREsemme Heat Defense Styling Spray and Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique, which I can’t recall where I thrown it.

Ok, last but not least. Some new additions to my hair care habits are silk pillowcase, Scunci No Damage Hair Elastics, combining wide-tooth comb with a boar bristle brush..
