What stop me at the cosmetics counter last week was the MAC Hey, Sailor! collection. The fun and cute packaging of this collection was so eye-catching, that I had to do some swatches.
After going back and forth, I was pleased to go home with my purchases.
I picked up Hey Sailor Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in the color Sauter, a pale nude shade. On my lips it washed out my face, so I wasn’t a fan of this lip pencil at first. But after playing with it a few times, I understood the key was not to apply too much and blend it out with your finger. Then top it off with a sheer lip gloss. I’m really impressed with how long this liner lasted!
I also think Sauter is excellent for erasing your lip color – if you want a brighter lipstick to show up on your lips, or for re-shaping your lips. I like to go little bit overboard with this lip pencil, to achieve bigger fuller lips but still look natural.
With nude lips, I always love to wear it when I’m tan. This kind of look it’s a great contrast against darker skin tone. I also got a couple of lipglasses; Orange Tempera to go with Sauter, and Blessedly Rich. Orange Tempera is a pale peach color, kind of nudy and Blessedly Rich has fine gold shimmers in it and it’s a vibrant coral with a hint of pink.
I enjoy using Blessedly Rich, because it’s not as sticky as other lipglasses and it blend on my lips effortlessly. When wiped off, you can still see a pink stain on your lips. Some how I like it.
The last thing that came home with me was Hey, Sailor! Suntints Liquid Lip Balm with SPF20 in the color Au Rosé. It was the only thing that stood out from the 3 shades. It has tiny golden shimmer in a pink coral tint. Au Rosé feels nice and easy on the lips, the consistency is thick enough for you to know that you have it on, but doesn’t have any stickiness or weird taste. What else is fabulous that it also includes SPF20. I’m surely going to be using this all summer.
